i recorded a new song. it's a cover of alice cooper's classic "i never cry" which came out in 1976 (from the "alice goes to hell" album). memorable ang kantang ito sa akin dahil ito ang isa mga unang natutunan kong tipahin sa gitara. we used to sing this song a lot sa tambayan namin sa novaliches when i was growing up. ito rin ang kinanta ko nung nag audition ako sa parish choir ng aming simbahan in 1981. awa naman ng diyos eh nakuha ako - sa "bass" ako napunta pero "soprano" ang inaplayan ko. hehehe.
iniba ko nga pala ang ending. HERE IT IS - sana magustuhan ninyo.
Always something there to remind me. i love this song, especially the soulful rendition of Jose Feliciano. i know, in my version, i bastardized it again. but so what. this was done on the night of the first singapore idol semifinals. i was so putoff by the quality of the singers that i decided to sing and record, just to show them what singing means. that they must do it like jose feliciano (or perhaps like me) - with soul. ha! ang yabang ko talaga. hehehe.
The Circle Game, Take 2. sinali ko na rito yung stanza containing the lines of the title of my previous blog entry - "words like, when you’re older, must appease him, and promises of someday make his dreams". ay naku, such great lyrics.
EAST OF GINGER TREES - this is an obscure song of seals and crofts. the melody and the lyrics are haunting. i don't know why but when i listen to this song, i am reminded of my dad. minsan naiiyak nga ako. just the same, the original version is one of my favorites.
MORNING COMES THE SUNRISE AND I'M DRIVEN TO MY BED
4 and 20 - this is my cover version of one of my favorite CSNY songs. taken from the deja vu lp that was released in the '70's. i think my version is rougher than the original but that's ok.
WE'RE ALL ALONE. boz scaggs classic, tawag ko rito eh "carmelie", kasi nung araw ang kanta ko sa lyrics ay "close the window, carmelie. and it will be allray"
DANNY'S SONG - loggins and messina song bastardized by batjay. wala lang, maganda kasi itong kantahin lalo nag yung part na "i love the girl who holds the world in a papercup. drink it up. love her and she'll bring you luck.
these are cover versions of some of the songs that i listen to.
